Florida Veterans for Common Sense member, Ivan Pressman’s, Letter to the Editor to the New York Times was published on September 17, 2024. The letter decried the harmful and unfounded allegations against the Haitian Community in Springfield, Ohio.

The letter went on to say:

During my time as a U.S. Department of Defense employee, I made four trips to Haiti in support of the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division in setting up communications equipment. Our work required the assistance of local Haitian civilians, and I can personally attest to their dedication, pride and unparalleled work ethic.

It is distressing to see such negative stereotypes being used to target a community that deserves our respect and support. Haitians, whether in their home country or as members of the diaspora, have consistently demonstrated resilience, strength and a deep sense of pride in their contributions.
