SURF Project sign at Celery Fields

Tim Rumage, Professor of Environmental Studies at Ringling College of Art and Design, highlighted the FLVCS Fund SURF project in a recent presentation given to the Rotary Club of Sarasota Bay. Professor Rumage’s talk was on Biomimicry and Biophilic Design.

FLVCS Fund, Rotary Club of Sarasota Bay and START (Solutions to Red Tide) jointly manage the Sarasota Urban Reforestation (SURF) project. SURF will plant trees to prevent run off, filter pollutants, sequester carbon to combat climate change, and beautify the urban environment.

Planning for the first tree planting at the Celery Fields in Sarasota is underway. Tree planting will be on Saturday, October 31st, 2020 at 9:00 AM. To sign up for tree planting contact Gene Jones. See Surf Trees Planting for more details.
