MILITARY SERVICE: Mitt Romney supported the Vietnam War by marching in the street. Yet, he never served in the military. In fact, he took four draft deferments as a student and Mormon missionary. While thousands including Mormons fought and died in Vietnam, Romney ran to Paris.

WASTE AND WAR: Romney has chosen as foreign policy advisers many of the same people who pushed for America to invade Iraq.

In 2007, Romney said, “It’s not worth moving heaven and earth, spending billions of dollars just trying to catch (bin Laden).” Yet, he proposes increases to defense department spending when the Pentagon refuses to account for what it spends and is rife with fraud and abuse. Ryan’s budget, which Romney has described as ‘marvelous.’ funds weapons systems that the Pentagon doesn’t want, or need. Romney has chosen a Vice-Presidential candidate who voted to fund the war in Iraq while voting against taxes to pay for it.

VETERANS SERVICES: Romney has considered “profitizing” The Department of Veterans Affairs. On Veterans Day 2011 he said there needs to be “private sector competition” and suggested the introduction of a voucher program. He now claims he is re-considering although he refuses to set out specifics. The Ryan budget doesn’t include the word ‘veteran’ and cuts veterans’ eligibility for health care.

Veterans issues should be talked about during this campaign. We should do more for our troops in general.

      Denvy,

You are correct. Veterans and national security issues should be front and center.
