Giving Challenge and Veterans Farm Project
FLVCS FUND, our FLVCS sister 501 c 3 organization is a Giving Partner with the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and is participating in the Giving Challenge on September I, 2015. The Giving Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to help fund an exciting FLVCS FUND initiative.
We’re pleased to announce that the FLVCS FUND is initiating a Farm Project that is well underway. We are starting the first growing season on a small scale to gain experience and have purchased 200 earth boxes that veteran volunteers are preparing for this season’s planting.
The Veterans Farm Project (VFP) fulfills our mission in many respects. Most importantly, it helps veterans. As the project develops we intend to not only train veterans in agricultural operations, but to employ them on a sustainable farm.
A member who knows agriculture is spearheading the VFP working group. With your support, we intend to provide traineeships for veterans to learn the management and farming skills necessary to operate a sustainable farm.
In addition, the VFP will provide volunteer opportunities for veterans to contribute to our community while obtaining a therapeutic benefit themselves. As a bonus, our farm will provide locally grown, healthy produce that is raised in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner with a small carbon footprint.
How you can help. Participate in the Giving Challenge with your donation to the FLVCS FUND. Please contact five of your friends and relatives and ask them to participate in Giving Challenge by donating to FLVCS FUND.
New contributors to the FLVCS FUND during the Giving Challenge will be matched dollar for dollar up to $250. The Giving Challenge takes place commencing September 1, 2015 at noon and lasts for 24 hours only. It’s easy to donate. After noon on September 1, 2015, go to https://givingpartnerchallenge.org/ and donate on their secure site to Florida Veterans for Common Sense Fund, Inc.
If you have questions about the Giving Challenge or VFP, please contact contact@flvcs.us or call 941-349-5131
We can be proud that FLVCS FUND operates without any paid staff so you can be sure that your donation is used to help veterans and not spent on high paid employees like some other charitable outfits.
