PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) Panel

FLVCS will present a panel presentation about PTSD at the Venice Democratic Club monthly meeting on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Venice United Church of Christ community room, 620 Shamrock Blvd., Venice, Florida. (Venice Gardens).

The panel participants are:

Dr. Eddy Regnier. Dr. Regnier PHD is an Associate Professor of the Sarasota School of Professional Psychology and Behavioral Sciences for Argosy University/Sarasota. He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 1986, an MA in Clinical Psychology in 1981 from Boston University Clinical Psychology program and a MSW in Social Work in 1979 also from Boston University, Boston Massachusetts. Dr. Regnier’s received his Baccalaureate in Psychology from University of Massachusetts. Dr. Regnier has clinical privileges at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and is a frequent lecturer in the community.

Scott Driscoll: Scott is an Afghanistan Vet and was the first Courts Assisting Veterans Coordinator for Sarasota County.

Christopher Davis: Chris is an Iraq/Afghanistan vet. He currently works as the jobs coordinator for Goodwill Industries.

Gene Jones: Gene is the President of FLVCS and will moderate.

The panel will explore the causes, extent, and treatment for PTSD with an emphasis the programs and projects that are helpful. There will be a question and answer session. This presentation is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about PTSD and how it affects veterans from those with first hand experience and information.

FLAG DAY CELEBRATION:

Friday, June 14, 2013 at Five Point Park in downtown Sarasota, Florida.

FLVCS in conjunction with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and the Sarasota Chalk Festival will celebrate Flag Day and the values and principles that make America a great nation.

8 AM — Chalking starts in early morning – artists and students can help complete an interactive 3D piece and everyone is welcome to participate or create their own chalk flag – prizes for all participating.

9 AM – Student Opera Performance

10 AM – Student Opera Performance

11 AM – Reveille, Star Spangled Banner, Police Dept. Honor Guard, Opening statements/welcome, City Commissioner reads Proclamation, Student Opera Performance

All day – Chalking going on, opera kids join, Tom Paine circulates, music, bubbles, clowns, clowns, street performers, and magic fun!

5:30 PM – 2nd ceremony — Vietnam Honor Guard, County Proclamations read by official. Introductions/MC, brief talks, Tom Paine, music, clowns, bubbles, and magic fun continues

Sarasota Chalk Festival
Local artist Truman Adams Artist will be chalking a 3D illusion at the 2nd Annual Flag Day celebration! Come and interact with the artwork or create one of your own! Chalk and encouragement will be provided. June 14th 8 AM – 8 PM
