Mel’s Analyses will feature commentary from FLVCS member, Melvin A. Goodman (Mel). The commentary will cover the threat President Trump’s actions pose to our democracy. The opinions expressed are wholly Mel’s own and do not necessarily imply FLVCS endorsement or agreement of any kind.
FLVCS Statement of Principles
Nevertheless, the first sentence of the FLVCS Statement of Principles states that as veterans we have a duty to help forge the future of our country. In that regard, we have come to the conclusion that the President is a threat to our democracy. In our view, we must speak out so that all Americans will come to recognize the peril the President represents.
Founding Fathers
To paraphrase the America’s Founding Fathers, a decent respect for the opinions of our fellow Americans requires that we declare the justifications for our conclusion. To do so, FLVCS member, Mel Goodman, will periodically write a short commentary setting forth reasons President Trump’s actions threaten our democracy. The expositions will be published in Mel’s Corner as well as on Facebook and Twitter. Please share them to your own contacts.
Non-Partisan
Of course, we can expect to be criticized as partisan for our stand. In response, we want to be very clear that our position is not partisan and goes far beyond which party, or which candidate, wins an election. The President is shredding our national fabric and that is more critical than mere partisan politics.
