Stand With Ukraine Resolution
WHEREAS democracy is the system of governance that best serves human aspirations; and
WHEREAS we wish to stand with the democracy of Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression; and
WHEREAS the exportation of Russian fossil fuels funds Russian war efforts in Ukraine; and
WHEREAS sanctions against the importing of Russian oil have resulted in an increase in the price of gasoline; and
WHEREAS a fossil fuel-based economy has resulted in global warming threatening our economy, our health, and our national security.
WE THEREFORE RESOLVE that part of the overall aid to Ukraine should be a transition from the use of fossil fuels to the use of energy sources that do not cause global warming.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the United States should collaborate with European countries to accelerate efforts to transition from the use of fossil fuels to energy sources that do not cause global warming.
