In recognition of veterans who have acquired disabilities in the line of duty and the specific issues they face during recovery and rehabilitation, the ABILITY House program has launched the ABILITY House Veterans with Disabilities Initiative. In cooperation with the Department of Veterans Affairs’ vocational rehabilitation and employment service departments, the Paralyzed Veterans of America and numerous private and state veterans’ services agencies, VDI will engage veterans and service members who have acquired health conditions or disabilities.

Adaptive Adventures Armed Forces Program provides support and mentoring to American servicemen and women who’ve sustained permanent physical injuries. The program works with recently injured military personnel still in the Army Hospitals as well as Veterans post-rehabilitation. The Air Force Aid Society Respite Care Program is intended for active duty Air Force families who have a family member with special needs. The Center for the Study of Traumatic Stress conducts research, education, consultation and training on preparing for and responding to the psychological effects and health consequences of traumatic events.
