RESOLUTION TO ENDORSE THE ENERGY INNOVATION AND CARBON DIVIDEND ACT (EICDA) (September 2019)

WHEREAS climate change poses a threat to our national security, and

WHEREAS climate changes poses a threat to the world’s sustainability, and

WHEREAS the cause of climate change is too much heat-trapping gas in the atmosphere, and

WHEREAS Florida Veterans for Common Sense wishes to promote the vitally needed transition from our fossil fuel economy to one based on non-combustion forms of energy (which do not emit heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere), and

WHEREAS the EICDA (H.R. 763) was introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives and its reintroduction into the U.S. Senate is pending, and

WHEREAS EICDA will be effective in reducing heat-trapping emissions by at least 40% (from 2015 levels) in twelve years, and

WHEREAS EICDA will be good for people by improving air quality and by putting money directly into peoples’ pockets every month, thereby helping low and middle income Americans, and

WHEREAS EICDA has the bipartisan backing in the House of Representatives essential for permanence, and

WHEREAS EICDA is revenue neutral and will not increase the size of government;

NOW, THEREFORE, FLORIDA VETERANS FOR COMMON SENSE adopts this resolution endorsing the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act as a major step to keep our world safe and livable for veterans and all people.
