In the spring of 2022, the Florida state legislature passed House Bill 741, which if not vetoed by the Governor, would have reduced the value of net metering, and opened the door for utilities to add fixed charges to rooftop solar customer bills. This legislation would have eliminated tens of thousands of jobs and scores of small businesses. Utility customers would have lost opportunities to save money on electric bills and reduce carbon footprints.
