Florida utilities are trying to kill rooftop solar
Florida Veterans for Common Sense (FLVCS) asks you to defend rooftop solar. Please contact your Florida state senator and representative to tell them to reject Senate Bill 1024/House Bill 741. SB 1024 is in the Senate Rules Committee as of February 16, 2022.
This bill would devastate the rooftop solar industry in Florida, destroying thousands of jobs and putting small rooftop solar installers out of business. Not to mention the negative impact on climate!
The response from alarmed residents has gotten the legislature’s attention. But the bill continues to pass through committee hearings. More needs to be done. Contact your elected officials now and let them know you oppose SB 1024/HB 741.

- The utility industry wrote SB1024/HB741 and office holders who take donations from the utilities sponsor it.
- SB 1024/HB 741 will cost thousands of jobs (approximately 9,000 in rooftop solar and 40,000 in related businesses)
- It will make Florida’s meager solar energy production even lower, which is bad for the climate.
- SB 1024/HB 741 takes away the public’s choice of electrical power.
- The bill serves the purposes of the utility monopoliesis, not in the interest of the public.

As a longtime Florida resident who has a high interest in the continuing flourishing of our wonderful State, I ask you to please oppose the upcoming SenateBill1024/HouseBill 741. The support of rooftop solar for our residents will create thousands of statewide jobs and give the public a choice of electric power. We are called the Sunshine State for a reason, lots of sunny days! This Bill will impede the advancement of solar energy production throughout the State which is not helpful in addressing climate change. I recognize that you are likely under some pressure by the utility industry to support this Bill which is being sponsored by utility companies to maintain their power over public choice.
